fuel problem

I have a 320x john deere lawn tractor(22 hp kawasaki) with about 60 hours. Some times it will shut down as if out of gas even when the tank has plenty of gas. When I look at the fuel line I can see that the fuel filter looks dry like it is out of gas. I can disconnect the gas and blow back on the tank and create pressure, quickly hook the line back and watch the filter fill up with gas and the mower will run again. I 'm not sure what the problem is can anyone offer advice. Thanks MACO

Check the fuel cap and make sure it is vented
