Hi Everyone:

This question is about a "Turf Trim" walk behind we us at work.

The fuel is leaking from the muffler. Can someone tell me what the cause may be?

I never thought to look for the engine make, but the mower is about 15 yrs old.

The mower was started about 2 wks ago, and ran fine. Then one day about a week ago I smelled gas in the shop. After looking around i noticed the gas dripping from the muffler. It has emptied the tank.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Weso

It sounds like the needle in the carburetor has stuck and too much fuel is getting into the combustion chamber, and instead of being burned, it is going through the exhaust valve, and eventually, the exhaust itself, unburned!

You should get your carburetor cleaned and a new needle fitted if cleaning it doesn't fix it.

if its gas coming out .. then you have big problems.....your oil will be half gas and watery.....its a needle /seat leak most likely.....could be a plugged vent too...causing the fuel to siphon from the main jet......you need to get the carb fixed and change the oil twice:frown:

Put a plastic fuel shot off in line and close it before turning the machine off . The crap in gasoline eats up carbs & needle seats . Close the fuel and let the carb run out of gas.
