I recently purchased a used series 839 Troy-bilt mower, model 12AG839E711, 21" rear-wheel drive with single-lever height adjustment. The problem is that the front axle fell off on one side. Looking underneath the mower deck I see that the front axle is attached using only a split hex flange bearing and a cotter pin, #22 and #26 in the attached parts diagram. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, arrived at a better method to attach the front axle to the deck?
