I have a FJ180V that will only start with starting fluid. Once started it runs flawlessly. Runs a bit fast but runs good. I have tried everything I can think of. Carb is cleaned. Fuel line is good. Float is working. Any thoughts?
hard starting and fast running smacks of an air leak.
Get a TRIGGER pack sprayer and saturate the manifold with WD 40 or similar.
lots of white smoke = air leak
Other than that you are looking at a mal functoning choke or a clogged idle fuel passage.
The idle fuel passage is hidden behind blanking plugs on most newer carbs
