I had the Kubota out for the first time this winter. Maybe an inch. I just did one place this morning. An insurance company that wants no snow on their lot. Took about 5 min. I need more snow.:biggrin: Dusty

"ONE INCH of snow....?!?! Better go buy a bigger tractor to handle all that white stuff. Just offhand, how much do you charge them for that amount of work? At my sideline job, I charge $25 an hour...five minutes earns me about 42 cents.

Well, when you said insurance company, I naturally assumed it was a commercial plowing job...I do five or six of our neighbors driveways after a heavy snow, but never expect a dime of compensation...however, I do get invited to all the backyard parties in the summer months....

Your tractor looks GREAT...
There is nothing like doing snow in a tractor WITH a cab...
I assume you did put heat into the cab...?

I guess you could say it is a commercial account. He does pay me. But it is very informal, no contract or anything. Small town, everyone knows everyone. That is my only commercial property. Other than some spots the big machines can't get in to. Those don't pay, at least not in cash. Sometimes I might need gravel or topsoil or whatever. You never know when things come back to you. The same with the neighbours. What comes around goes around. I am not well enough to do this for a living but I am well enough to do it for fun. That cab is probably one of the best things I have made. No heater but I get enough heat from the engine to work most of the winter without gloves. The sliding window is on the wrong side, I have to back through the drive through.:cool Dusty

My goodness, an entire inch of snow for all that Kubota. Somehow, it doesn't seem like a fair fight, so to speak. I'm not sure who to say won the fight, either.

The Kubota won the fight but the battle has just begun. I HOPE!!!!! It will be an awfull long winter without a bunch of snow. Dusty

Thanks Abn. Yes I made the cab last fall. Took me about a month I think. I am really slow. But I sure do appreciate the cab. Dusty

I just looked at a blow up of your cab, really nice work.do you leave it on yr. round?how much you reckon the cab weighs and what materials is it made of?did you go buy some plans or is it your own creation? I've got a little 1610d Yanmar I wouldn't mind building a cab but more for winter and taking it off in the summer.hope I didn't OD you on the questions. russ

Hey Russ. I just keep it on for the winter. The top comes off with 6 bolts , then there are I think 4 bolts for the three seperate bottom parts. It is made out of 1x1 steel tubing , 1 1/2 angle and 1/8 sheet metal. I am afraid I don't design anything. I just start building and when its done its done. It probably weighs around 250 lbs. The front and rear windows are glass. They came from a wooden cab I bought a few years ago. The rest of the windows are lexan. I will try to find a few pics.:biggrin Dusty

dusty-t,
Great cab!! I like your frame work. You have my next two projects. Cab and rear mount snowblower. For my cab, I want to keep the main frame work and roof mounted. Making the front and rear glass, both almost full width side door panels removable for summer.

Hey Nuffer. With your rops , canopy combo, I would think it would be a good project to remove the canopy and use the mounting holes as support for a fabricated canopy with mount for front rear and sides. Perhaps solid mounting points for the front just ahead of the footrests. The mounts could stay on all year. The front mounts and canopy mounts may be enough to build the whole cab around. Dusty. P.S You gotta show pics if you do it.
