hello everybody!

I am a newbee here with a problem. i gather that happens a lot. i have lurked on this site many times before joining. i have the app on my iPod for over two years. you all seem to be friendly and reliable.

i have a Craftsman YT3000 with the 21 hp briggs single cylinder. bought it new a little less than 2 yrs ago. installed a fuel cutoff valve right away and shut down by cutting fuel to motor. i did that a couple of days ago and heard gurgling when i went to restart. i always start with choke unless engine is still hot. this time i used choke when probably still warm and the cylinder filled with gas. it would not crank - hydraulic block, i'm guessing. rotated the cylinder and heard fuel drain--into muffler, i hope not crankcase. fuel also came out of air filter. i shut off the fuel and let sit for awhile to evaporate--over a day or two.

just went out to try starting, turn fuel on and heard gurgling--same thing. Have i got something stuck in the carb somewhere--obviously!? anybody had this happen and what's the fix. i have really terrible luck with gas mowers.

After carb clean, make sure you drain the gas/mixed oil outta the engine & replace with new Oil & filter.. And it wouldn't even hurt to do it again after one use..

After mine filled with gas, I changed the oil. Ran it for about 10 minutes then changed it again. I let it run for about 30 minutes, and changed it again... Mine doesn't have an oil filter. So it wasn't very expensive. But none the less, even if I'd had a filter, it would've been a lot cheaper than to replace/rebuild the engine...

That's better yet.. Oil is cheap compared to engines.. :thumbsup:
