Hello Newbie Hawk Eye,
Whenever you need help with an equipment problem, please provide the product label off of the chassis and the engine. The equipment manufacturer does not build the engines for their equipment. The more information you can provide, the more accurate answers we can provide. Otherwise, we can easily spin off into the "generic answers realm" and start telling the "once upon a time stories".
Generic answer:
This favors a problem with water in the fuel tank moving around and possibly water has gotten into the fuel bowl as well. A carburetor main jet will not "suck in" water and it will partially or totally block the main jet.
If it happens to be fuel injected the water will not let much fuel past the nylon filter sock in the fuel tank.
The next possibility is that clippings, dust and debris have gathered in the fuel pickup or a line before the inline filter and is partially choking down the fuel flow. There are very few tanks that the inside of can be confirmed as "clean" these days.
Once upon a time stories: Sorry, I don't have the time right now.
