Fertilizing the lawn

When are you supposed to fertilize your lawn? My father in law came by over the weekend and aerated the lawn for us and he mentioned we might want to put some fertilizer out.

In Georgia you are about coming into spring growing time, may not be too early there, but it is still a bit early here in Kansas..
In any case aerated lawn is going to be a big plus for the health of your grass... :smile:KennyV

I am in Georgia too and I actually already picked my fertilizer up and I am hoping to put it out next weekend if the weather stays nice.

I am reworking my rear lawn this weekend, tilling, plane it smooth, installing some sprinkler zones and hope to have it ready for seed by Monday or Tuesday. I would think that Georgia would be ready to fertilize now. I plan to plant new Tall Fescue in the new area about March 15 and start watering then. I am putting out a starter fertilizer with this new area, normally I have waited to get a stand first, then fertilize but thought I would do both to give it a shot.
