I have a ferris 1000z zero mower. It does not turn well and the left rear wheel does not turn as fast as the right. I have adjusted the ground speed screw without success. My local mechanic could not find anything wrong.

Ferris model list Series Check out your belts & idler pulleys for wear as well as troubleshooting section in your owners manual. You can also give Messicks a call for tech. support. By entering your model number on Messicks site, you will have information for your equipment.

Please post your model number, thanks. Also, have you replaced hydraulic filter recently & bled air from system per instructions in manual?

Thanks for the reply. Would the belt affect only one wheel turning? I thought the wheels were driven by hydraulics. Thanks. I will try to contact Messicks also.

It all depends upon where the tensioner is.
Most put them between the engine and the first pulley so one pulley has a bigger contact arc then the other.
This oft leads to one pulley not slipping at all and the other one slipping a little undr load.
This condition gets worse as the belt wears.
Check the routing very carefully, more than once I have gotten under a ZT mower to fing some one had reassembled the tensioner in the wrong place.
On a 61" Dane I ended up popping a second tensioner under the mower to cure the same problem.
However this is in general as I am not familiar with your machine and unless the mechanic is familiar, get a manual and check the belt routing your self.

Thanks. I will check this out. My mechanic did say that 2 spindles were wearing and I have purchased new ones, but have not installed them. I will check the tensioner and see if this helps.
