My Ferris 2000 hydraulic does not function properly. The left or right wheel motors will become erratic and will not respond for a second or two after I stop a forward or reverse direction and will suddenly jolt or jump up to the speed for which I have the handle motion control moved to. This occurs on both the left and right wheel motors and in both forward and reverse direction and appears to occur more frequently when the entire machine is hot from operating for a little time.
The following actions will temporally fix the problem: move the associated handle control rapidly forward and reverse a few times, holding the handle control in the full forward or reverse direction for a couple of seconds or just waiting a few seconds with the handle control moved to a minimum forward or reverse direction. These solutions are only good for about 30 seconds of run time and the problem re-occurs.
This problem is serious when trimming around plants and shrubs as the mower will jump unexpectedly causing damage to plants.
I have changed the hydraulic filter and added more fluid but I did not completely drain all the old hydraulic fluid out. I have replaced the two dampener controls and lubricated all associated moving parts.
Any and all suggestion are appreciated.
Sounds like you still have air in the system.
Don't know who makes the hydros on your unit but go to their web site and download the instruction for purging air.
Yeah most of the time just jack up the rear wheels,,then pull the release valves,,then stroke the handles forward and back 8 to 10 time gently,,then push valves back in and repeat. Then check your reservoir and top off if need be.
