Good afternoon!

Iam having trouble removing the starter - so that I can install a new one. Does anyone have any tips on how to get to the bolts and what tool is needed? I can’t even see them. Thanks in advance

Take the top cover off the engine. Most of the engines have a half inch headed bolt with a torques star in the center of the bolt head.

A long T40 bit or T wrench can be use to remove the starter without having to remove the shroud, Just make the stator wire and clip is in place as you the new starter. Just got to make sure the starter Bendix flats is in position.

Warning...Don't let this clip get pulled under the flywheel or it will destroy the stator and possibly the flywheel magnets.

Thank you. Unfortunately this Ferris / doesn’t have much room between the metal side frame plate and the starter. Iam trying to remove the flywheel - to see if I can see and access the bolts better. This machine has sat outside a long time and this flywheel is not wanting to come off

thank you. It was very difficult to reach the bolts. They were pretty much deep and under the flywheel. Ferris engineers / definitely didn’t think about performing maintenance or service. There is not much room to fit a socket in there ( the side plate of the body is only a few inches from the starter
