Hey Everyone - New member from Tasmania, Australia.

I'm after a bit of help if I can...

I have inherited an older (1990ish) MTD from my father.

It's been one hell of a project keeping the thing running though, and i've finally hit a bit of a wall with fixing it.

Its a 4 wheel steer model and somehow it's managed to strip its axle spline.

I had a shop try and weld it - but it broke.

I had a another shop drill it and put in a sellock pin (several times)( but that keeps breaking.

I am desprately trying to find a new axle and uni joint for it, im done trying to repair the broken axle.

Here's my problem.. As it's an australian import - I'm finding it really hard to try and get parts for this thing.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

Cheers,

Will

Did not know MTD made one as well as Noma who sold them under their name, Husqvarna & Victa down here.
You can weld the splines onto the uni joint , you just need a good welder who can weld cast iron to steel ( not simple or easy )
Mine is welded together (not pretty but it works, sort of )
I got the mower as a swap for a Rover self propelled from a customer when they downsized with the intention of repurposing the Vanguard engine, but it works so I will mow with it till it dies.
There are no transmission parts available for the Noma version & I would imagine the rear axels on both mowers would be the same as it was a very small market.
