My Kohler CV740 Seems like it runs Backward when shut off.It almost stops and then runs Funky with a knock..Any Ideas ???

my cub cadet with Kohler command engine will also do that sometimes. If I let it idle for a few min before turn key off its ok.

A partially sheared flywheel key which would advance the timing just a bit or a glowing piece of carbon in the cylinder comes to mind as possible culprits.

I would think the carbon more then the flywheel key.

An old, old trick for cutting carbon was to carefully mist water into the intake after the engine is hot and running. Never tried it. Never needed to.

Used seafoam at one time, but since they changed the formula it isn't half the product it was before.
