Engine replacement

I have a John Deere TS Gator that is in need of a new engine. Original is a Kawasaki FE350D CS22. Don't believe they make it anymore and was wondering if there is another that will work.

Deere parts look up shows FE350D-BS25 for the replacement of your engine. They list it at $1620.00, but I am sure can be found cheaper elsewhere.
