Hi everyone fmier here.

I have a Craftsman DYT 4000 with a Briggs & Stratton motor 18.5HP OHV intek plus.
I was cutting the grass on a very hot day when the motor stopped, it apears to be stuck I can turn it by hand but it will only move about 1/2" in both direccion, any ideas where I can start. Oil was a little low.

Sorry to say, but sounds like a broken rod. Can you here a cluck, solid metal to metal when you turn it either direction.

All depends on how much damage is done. You or someone will have take the engine apart to know what damage there is???

Yes, but you would have to tear it down to see if it is worth it. Problem is, depending on how it looks on the inside, cost will vary from $250-750 and that also depends on who's doing the work. Give us the numbers off the off the engine to see how old it is.

Thank you for your help, I started to take it apart because I was not sure if the engine needed to come out or if is possible to do it in place. after deciding to take the engine out, I was triying to takeout what I think is the clutch that is on the bottom of the shaft. I took a bracket that holds the clutch from turning. After removing it, now I can turn the engine with no problem.
Could this part be the problem?

Found the problem, the electric PTO clutch bearing is very bad, don't know if is better to replace bearing or get a new clutch.
