Hi all , i'm new here so i hope you will bear with me a little.I own a Toro 6.5hp self propelled mower which was purchased about 7 months ago .I has been working well and still is except for a knock in the engine after approximately 4 minutes of operation(when it heats up) The oil level is always good and i've since changed the oil but it's all the same, any suggestions ?Thanks to all.

It sure sound like you got more then a oil problim. Time to pull ithe engine apart. Start with removeing the head and make sure you haven't got a carbon knock and go from there.

i agree carbon will heat up and cause spark knock and can also cause the engine to diesel but you probaly would not have that problem on an engine with a blade brake

Just quest, why not a engine with a blade brake? On top of that why couldn't that blade brake make a knocking noise? I also have heard a lot louder knock then a spark knock when the piston hits the carbon.

Don't touch the unit, if it is only 7 months old is is still under warranty and it you tear it down it may cause problems with the warranty.!! Take it back to the dealer

That would even be a better place to start looking for your knock for sure

blade brake on most mowers Toro included shut the blade off but the engine keeps running, If it is just a safety bail system then the spark would be cut off.
