Engine issue,

Long story short, I replaced a starter solenoid, but I took it apart so long ago that I don't remember how to connect all the wires. So I Was unable to start the engine.
BUT I do have a manual and it shows how to connect all but one. Thanks, Manual~!!
It's a Briggs 11.5 Engine, model 21R807 Type 0058 F1
Below are links to images, One I took of the actual wire and one from the manual of the conductor in question. It is Red, and has a ring connector that is in the ignition housing next to the solenoid. Thatred wire runs through a poly conduit
and exits the conduit next to the engine and then through a connector that looks suspiciously like a Fuseable link and then into the engine somewhere. If it is a fusable link there is no way to replace it, which is weird.

Oh and I forgot - - - The engine starts and stops and runs just fine with that red mystery wire connected to nothing. but it definitely is a Briggs Factory wire. So what is it?
I have dragged it across ground while running the engine it generates little arcs like it's trying to hook up and not the larger arcs as if there was a short

I've checked it for continuity it connects to nothing, but that little black covered slug has my hackles up.
Any advice is appreciated

That would be the wire that connects to the battery for recharging the battery. the black bump above the connector is a diode. The ring connector on the other end of that harness should connect to the battery side of the starter solenoid.

thanks. the diode allows power to flow only one way to prevent battery drain down then. Hadn't thought of that.
I had it connected to the battery terinal before but for reasons I can not explain I was blowing the five amp fuse. I am guessing I had a ground in the wrong place.
I'll find out tomorrow.

The charging stator under the flywheel produces AC output and the diode acts as a unregulated half wave rectifier. So the battery is recharged with the positive swings of the AC wave.

works~!!! Thanks~!! Now I gotta figure out how to prime the hydraulic pump
