I have a Sears lawn tractor with a replacement 16HP Briggs and Stratton engine. It was running fine and I was mowing when it suddenly sputtered like it was out of gas and died.

There was plenty of gas and the fuel lines are clear. The fuel pump works fine and the backfire prevention solenoid operates as it should. (retracting when the key is turned on)

If I spray some fuel in the carb it will kick over and run until the fuel is gone.

It acts as if there is a total fuel blockage but I cannot figure out what it might be since it had been running fine and there was nothing that happened before it died.

Sound like new needle valve time in the carburetor.

Some of the fuel solenoids have a plastic tip on them that will come off and stop fuel flow. May need to remove and check the plunger. This will also confirm if there is fuel in the carb at this time.
