hi guys, i have a cub cadet LT 42'' XT1 enduro series and about 5 yrs old, my last mow last season it decided to just cut out in reverse mow mode, it seemed ok ok in forward, could it be that its just the battery or could it be something more sinister, thanks

So to get things clear
Normally the mow in reverse bypass switch would allow you to mow when going backwards .
Now it is not working and when you set the MIR to mow backwards the engine cuts out .
Is that is what is happening .
When you have nothing to go on but the words on a screen it can be difficult to understand exactly what is happening .

yeah, what you say is about right, its like the battery dies, had to jump it to start it after it cut out, but it only cuts out in MIR

Need the model number from the serial number tag so we can pull the wiring schematics. Also have you recently changed the ignition switch or seat switch?

As Star says
Some use a relay for the MIR function while others have it built into the switch.

Most likely it is 4 position Snap in Delta switch. Either a 47 or 49.

Bought a 2006 deere for gal pal, mowed in reverse in spite of switch preventing same. Pulled switch out of panel and previous owner had jumped contacts, eliminating same from circuit. Removed jumper and now one must hold switch down to avoid shut down whilst reverse mowing. Just the way I want it for mechanically challenged and/or drunk operators. Get a new switch for your mower or jumper the contacts

Is it "like have to jump it" or does it not start after reverse & you must jump start it?

Original battery?

With out the requested info being provided most things posted are just guesses. Cub Cadet (MTD) uses three different systems that I know of and must know which of three that is being used here. Apparently the OP isn't really interested in fixing the problem so I am stepping out of this thread.

yes, it wont start after reverse mow, and now does not start at all with out a jump, it would seem the battery is not charging ty

Okay your ignition switch is the MTD RMC switch setup using the Delta 6900-47 switch. Here is the pin out for the switch.

If you need to replace the switch you use the Oregon 33-105 or if you don't mind having a wrong symbol use the Husqvarna 532175566.

The Oregon Switch is the non printed/ non molded version that MTD/Cub uses. The Husqvarna is the printed and will have a headlamp symbol in placed the reverse mode symbol. It is due to way the switch is used here. The switches with the reverse symbol will not work in this application.

replace battery so you can properly diagnosis circuits if you haven't done as yet
relay needs battery power to operate correctly
