this charging system has been faulty since my last battery purchase, I have a 1998 mower with no manual if that would help. Except I don't know what kind of charging system I got. I have a multimeter and this is my challenge, is there any hope.

Post the model number of the mower, the model numbers off the engine, and the number of wires coning off the stator under the flywheel, complete with colors, as well as the color of the connector.

somebody will then be able to give you testing procedures as well as normal output readings.
