Hello, I have a Echo 220(15 years old) weed eater that i'm at odds with. 1st....wouldn't start no matter what. 2nd.....filled with new gas, rebuilt carb., new fuel bulb, new spark plug with correct gap, cleaned screen, cleaned jets, fuel lines open. Can get fuel in bulb but it wont start without putting some fuel into the spark plug hole.......runs till that bit of gas is used up........help!

You prolly need a new carburetor. I had a 280 that is still in warranty and instead of even working on it the dealer just put a new Carburetor on it. Apparently they are pretty cheap.

I'm far from an expert but it sounds like the diaphragm/"fuel pump" or you put the gasket and diaphram in the wrong order. Or less a crack in the fuel line that you didn't see. Like jekjr said, a new carb is sometimes better than a rebuild kit. I bought a new carb for an Echo power pruner because it was about the same price as a rebuild kit and primer bulb. Usually for older models the carbs are pricier than for newer models.

Is it possible you have the fuel lines swapped?

That's what I'm going with.

Well..I have the black one closer to the motor and the clear one on the out side.

I don't own an Echo..is it a Walbro Carb?

Does it have a primer bulb on the carb or is it separate?

It sounds like you are not sure, so you could just swap them and see if it works.

The one that provides the fuel to the needle valve should have the weighted filter on it. It keeps the fuel line down in the fuel. So, make sure both lines are down in the fuel.

I saw this awesome instruction manual on a post earlier...

In that article it says the fuel supply goes on the tube that is near the plate that has Walbro stamped on it. The one with the idle adjustment screw.
