Echo Trimmer engine issue

I have an Echo Trimmer. Today, I replaced the fuel filter, fuel lines, primer bubble, spark plug and air filter. Basic tune up.

I can crank with the choke set to Cold Start and it will run. However, when I push the choke down to run, the engine cuts off immediately. I can't figure out what is causing the engine to cut off.

Any suggestions?

You did the basic tune up but did you clean the spark arresting screen?? If it's plugged the unit won't run.

When I replaced the fuel lines, I took the carb off and it appeared to be clean and un obstructed. But I'll check out the videos and do a good cleaning. Hopefully that will clear it up.

You did the basic tune up but did you clean the spark arresting screen?? If it's plugged the unit won't run.

I did check the screen and it was clean. No obstructions.

I'm going through a similar situation with my Craftsman leaf blower. It starts fine and runs good full open but dies when idling.

Fuel lines look good, cylinder head is tight. Snugged the screws on the carb backing plates.

Pulled the air filter and it had quite a bit of oil. It wasn't 2 cycle oil but rather the bar & chain oil I used to oil it after cleaning. Appears I left way too much oil in the filter. Just got done cleaning it and will only apply a few drops before putting it back in.

You may have a situation where your high/low mixture screws need adjusting. If yours aren't slotted or philips head, they most likely need a special tool. Be sure to determine which type of head the screws have so that you get the correct tool. The types are Pac man, D, double d and splined.

I'm going to check the exhaust port for carbon build up and clean if required. Hopefully that and the clean air filter will do the job.
