Newbie here, was searching a problem I'm having and came across the forum.
I have an Echo SRM-2100 that I've had for ~15 years, has performed well all these years.
Recently I've been having trouble with the spool flying off. I'll bump it for line feed and notice it is loose, no longer locked into the the two nubs where it's supposed to lock in.
Shortly there after it'll will fall off. I respooled the line, in case I had done it backwards, but that didn't help.
Not sure if I need a new spool or a whole new head. Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello - I too have an SRM2100 that I bought new in 1998. Those nubs that the spoil clicks into could be getting worn, even if just one is worn it could be a problem. After 15 years it may just be a good idea to replace the head. They're not expensive, about $25 and that will solve it. But be sure to buy an echo brand head not an aftermarket. I made that mistake and the line always got caught up inside and wouldn't advance. Tossed it and got the exact replacement echomatic head and no problems. Good luck.

I use the sped feed heads. They are the best I have found.
