My DYT 4000 will begin smoking(white smoke) and stalls on inclines. And it is using oil and looks like there is oil under the exhaust. I have changed the oil and filter and made sure not overfilled. Any suggestions on what the problem is and cost to repair?? I change oil and filter every season. Gas has been drained and refilled.
thanks

Charlie, that's classic cylinder bore/ring problem but pros will respond to you shortly , I'm sure.

Well I guess the pros are busy. Check the plugs for oil coating or coke. If you have a gauge check for compression and compare the cylinders value. (I just saw 150 psi somewhere in this forum which seems high) Some where I have the values I got years ago on my Intek/dyt4000. If you need I will try to dig up what I got.

How much oil did you put in the engine? Also what type?
Sounds like a cracked oil ring ,blown head gasket

I used SAE 30, put in what the book said, 56 ounces.. I always check level and am careful not to under/over fill.
