You are going to mow your own private lawn and it,s not near any public land or sidewalk. Just what would you consider to be too much adult beverage not to mow your lawn? I have seen some mowers with cup holders. It seems that a lot of people have a different tolerance when it comes to alcohol and different beliefs.

My opionion is alcohol and equipment don't mix. If it were me I'd wait till after I finished to enjoy some adult beverages. But I hardly ever drink. Just my 0.02

You see cup holders and you think alcoholic beverage?
Why?
We cut grass in triple digit temps here. That means you need to stay hydrated. Cup holders mean you can keep both hands on the mower and keep working.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I have had a beer while mowing if the barn's refrigerator is empty of water or soda. Beer is really not the best thing to have since you will probably dehydrate quicker while drinking it. Probably in the last 20 years I may have done it 3 or 4 times.

As for whether a person should be restricted if consuming alcahol whil on your own property. That is a tough question. People get run over by traactors all the time. I don't think it its the best practice but...This used to be the land of the free.

Yes my mower has a cup holder, made it myself, also use it every time I mow, which has not been very many times this year, what with the drought. As a side note we finally got some rain, 1 1/2 ", so proud. Now to the matter at hand, as long as this is my land, which is paid for, so long as I put no one in jeopardy, I will do as I please within reason, I did not get to be 65 years old by being stupid. That said, the mug that fits in the holder will hold 3- 12oz. cans, takes me about an hour& 15 minutes to mow, now if the lawnmower police don't like it, they have a problem. I put a lot of work into the construction of that holder, as it was made from a flat piece of aluminum and it remains in a single piece, not parted together, it sits directly on the floor & never moves. Can't wait to show my next add-on.

Now come on beer on a mower? won't the bumps and vibrations take the fizz out of the beer? Now I would guess you need the hard stuff for the cup holder. Who want flat beer?

Brilliant! and color coordinated.....
It never occurred to me to drink beer while working, it would be counter productive for me. I can make up for that lack of consumption when the work is complete however.
I don't have a problem with anything you do on your property as long as I can't hear it....it my house, whether it's within reason or not, as reason is a subjective term, or: what is within reason for one is way out of line for another.
Perhaps you could explain to reynoldston about the condition of the beer after a few minutes on the mower, Seems to me as well it would get kind of bouncy there. Does your cup holder have a suspension?

I am semi-retired, I repair computers for my livelihood so mowing is a relaxation to me, not work, I enjoy keeping my yard looking nice. Yes "within reason" is a subjective term, but I started working at age 10 shining shoes on the streets of New York and never slowed down until I retired at age 62 so there were many lessons learned along the way, one of which was how to survive by not being careless. Everything I do is calculated and thought through so there a few surprises at the end of an undertaking.

Now on the lighter side, yes actually, my cup holder does have suspension, on the bottom is an L shaped plastic bracket that contacts the floor of the mower, this bracket flexes somewhat to control movement. The placement worked out well as it is almost near center of the mower body, thus little movement at all. Oh, there is a snap on lid to keep out any undesirables.

All in good fun!!!!
