Can some please tell me how I go about getting a drive belt for it and also any help anyone can give me on putting it on will be greatly appreciated.I had to pay someone here where I live last year to put it on and was charged 500.00for doing it .I sure can not afford that again. So do I need to junk it ?I can see a slit on the belt but cannot find out what size belt I need.I have looked all through my manual book but do not see the size I need. Thanks for any help youy can give me..:frown:

$500 for a drive belt, boy did you get taken big time. Post the model number of the unit and we will get you a belt number. We should also be able to find you some literature as would to go about replacing it.

Here is the belt... Bailey's - 1/2" x 78" Oregon V-Belt for Cub Cadet SLT 1550, SLT 1554, LT1000
shop around and you will find that belt for less than $10..
As for installing it... you will have to remove the PTO clutch, a bit of a hassle but not to difficult... That model is no fun to work on, but for $500 I would ware a tuxedo while doing the job... plus serve you dinner & a fine wine...
It should take you no more than 2 hours & that is figuring you have never done anything like this before...
Just pay attention to the belt routeing, both belts, drive & deck...
Take pictures before you remove things, take your time...
have a cool one when your done, You will have saved around $470 so that should make you feel good...
Plus you will know what to look for when you buy your next mower... Easier serviceability.

Redicules price. Another question, why are you going through belts so quickly? You say it was replaced last year or was it? Even worst, it may have only been adjusted:thumbdown:
