I have a dr mower with a 17hp kawasaki engine. The engine fires up and runs for a while with the choke wide open but dies immediately when moved to run. I have replaces the fuel filter, plugs, fuel pump, and air filter. I am out of ideas. Maybe the linkage to the carb needs adjustment? sorry if my questions are remedial. Attached are pictures of the carb and linkage.5D8ECA84-B278-436E-B11F-1A8A8F65CE21.jpegBA628009-F05C-44E3-B08C-5B8C10BB2A8D.jpegAE046FD2-6066-4C85-AB4F-B48032D1357B.jpeg

From the outside of the carb it doesn't look like you have removed the carb and give it a good cleaning. Possibly a plugged jet not allowing enough fuel with the choke being closed.

Not quite following your symptoms
does it sto[ the instant you try to move as in drive or stop the instant you try to move the choke ?

When I move the choke. the choke has 3 setttings. Choke, Run, and Idle. It starts with the choke on but when moved to run it dies

Fuel supply problem, fuel filter, restricted flow from tank, dirty carb.

That is one filthy engine. Is this some mud bog kids toy?

Might want to clean the engine block and cooling fins. Valve seats can jump out of the block not to mention other over heating engine damages.

These are air cooled engines. With that mummy wrap of adobe around the block, kind of hard to get precious air to cool the engine off.

Little Turtle Wax on the deck, tire shine on the tires.

Engine could be from some tool rental shop. Actually no, they keep their stuff clean.

I want to say some curse words here......
