Dr brush mower hard to start

I have a DR brush mower with a 17HP Kawasaki engine that will not start without a shot of primer. Once it starts it runs great and will re-start if it's hot but will not start cold. Previous owner said he had the same problem. Any suggestions?

Post Kawasaki model number from engine data plate. Check carburetor choke for proper operation, sounds like adjustment is needed.

As Mark and Bert said, check the choke operation. It sounds like an adjustment is needed.
