Do you remember your first time?

Just curious, do you remember the first time you ever mowed a lawn? Were you a child or an adult? Were your parents watching or were you completely on your own?

I remember it well. I learned a valuable lesson that if you slip and fall make sure your feet don't go into the blade. I cut my big toe pretty bad and had to have surgery on it. I was around ten I think.

not only remember first grass cutting, but how cool the mower was .......a briggs powered reel mower complete with dual bicycle mirrors a flaired tailpipe from a car(over the mower muffler) which was painted red, a bicycle headlight, streamers coming from the handlebars, and a couple STP stickers on the steel wheels, i looked forward to cutting grass then.

I think the first time I mowed grass was at my grandparent's house when I was a kid. I used one of those push mowers that didn't have a motor. I forget what they're called. I don't know if they make them any more.

That is a REEL mower, the same thing I first used over 55 years ago...
and yes they still make them today... but they seem a lot smaller today. :smile:KennyV

My dad let me mow our yard on a riding mower when I was in middle school - about 6th grade. He watched me like a hawk at first, but by the end of the summer I could do the whole front yard by myself.

I can't remember how old I was but I was MUCH younger than I am now. I can also remember riding around my grandpas yard on his riding mower. Fun times that was. I miss him so much.

It has to be around that time me and my siblings paid a visit to our grandpa. He had left to church and we were left with a young nanny but she could not keep an eye on us.

We ended up powering on the thing but left a really huge patch at the lawn.
