Dixie Chopper- won't start- no spark

Let me start by saying I know nothing about a Dixie Chopper and never ridden one, but I just purchased a XG2703 with low hours (900) from someone who paid to have the lawn mowed with this mower. It hadn't been started in 2 years, but looked to be in good condition. One of the spindles was bad, so I decided to purchase all three and new belts for preventative maintenance. We charged the battery, put the mower in neutral, sat in the seat, put the emergency brake on and turned the key switch...turns over and sounds solid. After several attempts with no luck, we stopped and checked the plug - no fire. So we started looking for safety switches, loose wires and even checked the "roll-over" mechanism - still no luck.
Is there something I am missing?

Were the spark plugs wet ?
IF yes take the blower housing off and remove the kill wires from the coils
IF it starts & runs then stops when you turn it off you have a wiring problem with the kill circuit
IF it does not stop then you also have a problem with the carb solenoid.

To start some or all of these need to happen
Lap bars out in the stop position
Parking brake on
PTO off
Oil full

Please post the model & serial numbers from the ID tag.

So it looks like you have a Kohler engined 2006 model.
he wiring diagrams Dixie publish are beyond a joke
But according to the manaul here are onlt 3 switches to worry about
Seat switch PTO, switch & oil switch.
All of which will stop the en©ine from starting.
HAve ou tried starting the mower with the kill wires removed yet ?
