Would a ZT model that has been sitting outside in the rain for several months scare you for any reason? I am sure it is not a big deal but looking for opinions. Thanks.

That was one of the determining factors as to why I sent the Big Dog back. Dealer wouldn't make any concessions towards the fact that it sat out in the Florida climate for over 9 months. All untreated metals were oxidized, weld spatter had spots already popping rust through the paint and the seat was mildew stained. It looked like it had way more hours on it then it had. He only knocked a paltry $100 off for the appearance.
The point is, If I'm putting out that much cabbage on a machine, at least have it look new-ish or reflect that in the price.

I bought mine as a "display model" and have no idea how long the dealer had it.....but it was in an "inside showroom" or I would not have considered it. When I was researching/shopping I looked at a Bad Boy Residential ZTR at a TSC that had been outdoors, and just like user RatRacer I was reluctant to shell out several grand for something "not new". I vote NO!!!

Well, that's just it. The same model is for sale on this sites sponsor site on sale for $7495.00 and I will walk out the door for under 6K. 0 hours on it. It looks new still, slightest bit of rust on weld spots as you mentioned, but seat looks brand new. I was more concerned about the electrical/engine components I guess.

By the way how was the weather your way last Thursday? Western palm beach county got hit pretty hard.

Well, that's definitely a better "discount" than the Big Dog dealer offered user RatRacer. I can see why you are giving it serious consideration!! That's a big pot of beans discount. I saved about $1k off the MSRP for an "end-of-season" deal on a remaining inventory 2012 model(plus the 2013 was $300 more for the same model) but your getting a little better deal than that in prime time sales season. That's a tough call!!!!

You have to weigh each deal, and its personal value, as it comes. Bear in mind how the dealer treats his inventory in general, for concerns of deterioration.
1.5K difference is several push mowers for the rest of the homestead and neighbor kids to pitch in, to keep the hours down on the new mistress. ;)

Congratulations! I know what you mean by "like a kid waiting to open presents on Christmas Day". When I just got my new ZTR, I couldn't wait to get out and mow. Used to hate it....now I love it..
