Hi all - I posted a couple days ago, picked up a non-running Timemaster (190cc 121S02-0130-F1 engine) and trying to get it to start. I've drained all the gas, replaced carb/spark plugs/air filter and still can't get it to turn over.

I'm debating bringing to the shop or possibly just keeping my eyes open for a replacement engine as the swap doesn't look terribly difficult - that said, I don't realy want to mess with drilling new mounting bolts! What would be suitable direct bolt on replacements for this 190cc Briggs engine?

Well you are limited to a 25mm crankshaft as a direct replacement and those 2016 crosses are out of date. The direct replacement is the 125P07-0047-F1. But it is costly.

You can sub any Briggs 190cc that has a Straight - 25MM 3.156" PTO. But re-powering is usually more than just replacing the complete mower.

I simply would just pass on re-powering here. Just did a JD rider repair here and the owner thought $750 was too much, they rather spend $3000 on a new mower.

Thank you. Are you saying the only replacement is the 125P07-0047-F1?
For example, I see this engine for about $300 that seems to fix the specs you outlined - I presume this would fit?

No what I was saying the only direct replacement recommended by Briggs was the 125P07-0047-F1. If you want to put a higher torque engine in this should have the same mounting pattern as it is basically the same engine with a slightly larger bore. IE 14 CI vs 12 CI. As Tim the Tool Man says "more power".

Got it - thank you! Sorry to be pedantic, but is there any way to lookup what engines would have the same mounting pattern as the one I have now? Or are there specific specs I’m looking for? Thank you!

Not that I know of. Manufacture do however to use a standard mounting pattern most of the engines in the same size class.

YEp most domestic push mowers have common mounting patterns and if not usually the chassis will have hole to accomodate all of them

Down here Victa had 80% of the walk behind market and their Powertorq engine had only 3 mounting holes so they made an intermediate plate to go between other engines and their chassis as they offered Tecumseh or Honda engines along side their own
Nearly all of the USA imports have 2 sets of holes to take the 2 bolt patterns common to USA mowers B & S and Honda .
Commercial engines can have a different pattern but I am yet to come across one that was not one of the 2 already mentioned
Most cheap Chinese engines are Honda bolt patterns as they are copies of the GXV or GCV engines
