Difference between 407777 Type 0122-E1 and 407777 Type 0229-E1

I just blew my lawn tractor engine. Internal part broke, engine does not turn. I can buy a 407777 Type 0229-E1 on EBay. Question is: Will the type 0229 bolt directly onto my chassis? Or does each type have a different mounting configuration?

Within a type they will all directly bolt up
so all 400000 series engines are directly swappable
However the crankshafts can come in several configurations and the blower housings can be different and the alternators can be different
They will all swap from the old to the new but it is worthwhile checking the crankshaft diameter length thread & keyway before you open your wallet .

They have different crankshaft PTO lengths.

For the 0122-E1 replacement use 44Q777-3136.

Thank you, you saved me from buying an engine that would not work for my application.

Thank You. I did comparisons after Star Tech's post and bought a replacement engine. From specifications it should work perfect. Minor differences but I do not anticipate any major problems adapting to my tractor.

Some thing as simple as a different brand name sicker on the blower housing will result in different engine numbers.
So as long as the crankshafts are the same they will swap over with a little effort .
The engines for walk behinds usually have a pull start and / or a very small alternator and that is what catches most people out but they will swap over
Engine controls are often different but again the complete control plate & wires from the old engine will bolt up to the new one as long as the first 2 numbers are the same .
What I have found is a lot of governor arms & linkages are different so I generally swap the whole lot over if they do not measure up identically .
Note the use of the word MEASURE
