Ok, the final, final and completion of this problem. I made sure the tank was clean & line had good flow ✓ Installed Red pancake filter ✓ Repaced carburetor with cheap Amazon carb, would not idle, not sure if it would have died, disassembled original and cleaned it completely ✓ Replaced coil assembly, cheap Amazon unit ✓ New spark plug ✓ Had to remove & re-install carb, didn't get throttle cable correct the first time ✓

******MOWER RUNS LIKE NEW*****

Thanks for all the suggestions and patience with me getting the mower fixed.

Glad to hear you got it running, but we’ll never know the cause of the problem, as you just replaced parts until the problem was solved. That won’t help others in the future..

You're right but I'm leaning towards the coil as the culprit, due to long term illness I just don't know when I feel up to working on it.

I believe that you are correct!👍 For the future, try to replace one part at a time & then test….save some $$$.

If you would have done what I suggested in post #6 we would have known if it was a coil or not. You may have saved a lot of time and money.
