Clutch releases with a snap. Is there an adjustment?

The clutch & the brake are on the same pedal
The brake works on the layshaft so locks the diff which is the same as putting your car in the Park position.
This means the rear wheels can only turn in the opposite directions which is a sudden death stop.
When letting off the clutch brake pedal the brake should come off just before the clutch takes up and starts to drive the mower
If you get under the mower , deck off and get some one to work the pedal you will see a spring somewhere between the clutch rod & the brake rod.
This is what is used to adjust the balance between clutching & braking.
Normally it does not require adjustment unless some thing is wrong with the drive line, bad pulley, bad belt, worn tensioner pivot etc etc etc

IN CAPITALS BEAUSE SOME DO NOT UNDERSTAND & CAN INJUR THEMSELVES
THE BRAKE DOES NOT STOP THE WHEELS TURNING SO WHEN YOU ARE UNDER THERE THE WHEELS WILL SPIN IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS IF THE MOWER IS OFF THE GROUND..

I wrote the same about adjustment a while back and the owner got injured because he thought the wheels would stop turning when the brake was applied.
So he sent me a rather cranky PM which probably was justified in the situation so if you have the mower off the ground, the wheels will spin and can grab your hand, arm, leg etc .
