Deck pulley

Howdy folks...trying to hunt down/buy a flat deck pulley for a stanley/murray mower ....hard over here!...pulley size is w. 4 -3/4 strong, height 1-1/4strong, bore 12.7mm/ 1/2 inch.......part number 9690549 at Jacks small engine parts is giving me an almost 6inch pulley!!!!!!!!...too big.. :frown:

It sounds like you are looking for a belt idler pulley? 9690549 part number just doesn't seem to come up for me and a 6 inch idler pulley sounds large to me. Have you tried E-Bay and just look for a mower deck idler pulley. You will find they just come in one standard size that fits most mower decks. I have found Jacks very good with parts so you might want to order that pulley by size.

oops...its 690549....this pulley should have a bore of 12.7 mm....but getting lots of variations online lol...in jacks they have a scale background behind parts and its coming in at 5 3/4 .....will send them a mail

As far as the bore sizes go's I have seen some of the pulleys use spacers or bushing to make them fit. It just seems like what you are looking for is a very standard size. Seeing I haven't been to Ireland I don't know what you have there but if you have any mower dealers or repair shops but they must need these parts also seeing its a very common problem spot. If it is just the bearing that is bad I have replaced them by taking the old pullet apart. They are just spot welled or riveted together then put them together with small screws.

Dont bother coming either....all we have is wind, rain and stiff tax bills :laughing:....sent a mail to jacks to try and get a size on that pulley...diff places seem to slap any part number they want on them...murray not a big name here so unless you get luck with another pulley manufacturer its tricky!

Like I said if just the bearing its self is bad most old pulleys are very rebuild able. You just drill out the spot welds or rivets, replace the bearing, then put the pulley together with small screws. I do it often in my shop.

All sorted...got a John deere pulley...has a 17.5mm bore but I have a sleeve to make difference...I will order some bearings in tho so I can do my own as by you said...Google eyed from searching on laptop
