Felt I should reply on my decision...
Well I decided to hold off on buying a new mower until the old Craftsman 6.5HP push mower I have breaks down. It's 10 years old, hadn't been used in about 2 years, and cranked right up on the first pull. I changed the blade, gave it a tune up, and I've been using it the last three weeks with no issue. No self-propelled. No blade brake. Just crank it, mow, and feel like you accomplished something.
When (if) this thing ever dies, or I get exhausted with pushing my yard, I'll still probably go the Honda route. But this has been a good lesson in what I need and what I don't need. I may just go the way of the HRR216VKA or HRX217VKA.
