did this not come on the mower to start with?? He added this after my mower would cut bad..
what causes it to need it??

So this goes on BEFORE I put ON THE BLADE???? i was going to put on the blade and then put this with nut other big washer??

thank you for the reply on this

They wear out and then the blade is not held tight and slips so you get a bad cut cause the blade is not spinning at full speed.

So does this go ABOVE the blade or Below the blade when I put it on???

The guy did not replace on he added it to the spindle..

Usually you go
spindle
Blade adapter
Blade
Cupped / flat washers
Split washer
Nut

The blade adapter usually has a raised section that is the same diameter as the hole in the blade but not as tall s the blade is thick.
The blade goes over the adapter then a heavy flat washer goes on the blade followed by a cupped washer.
When the nut it tightened these clamp the blade.
As such the blade spins but if it hits some thing really solid the blade can slip so it does not break or bend.

I don't think Kubota used the exact same spindle arangement twice.

I will need a picture of the spindle it was on and the other blade spindle to give any more advice.
It could be who ever repaired the mower use an old worn out adapter to replace the cupped or flat washer to clamp the blade.

That particular style of adapter was used on spindle that has splines on it which of course engage with the splines on the adapter.
If your spindle does not have splines then the repairer use it as a spacer or clamping washer.

The 4 nuts allow the spindle housing to come off the deck. In the diagram I posted the cups have nothing holding them on except the blade. If I was you I would be taking the spindle housing off and looking for everthing to be in place and not broken.

And going to the dealer and seeing what those cups look like to see if you need to replace yours.

Looks to be in ok shape, no need to replace. They are dust cups and should just pull off. May have never been removed, tapping the sides will help remove them. Tapping, not rapping

And going to the dealer and seeing what those cups look like to see if you need to replace yours.

From what I can see you are talking about the thin metal cups that are grease cuts to keep dirt out of the bearings. We used to have to replace them normally every couple of hundred hours when we ran a 326. I have had something fly up from one of the other blades striking it and bend one of the cups so that it rubbed when it turned. In a pinch when this happened I have taken it off in the field and taken a hammer and set it on the trailer ball of the truck and straightened it enough to run till we had time to get another one.

Disregard my post. I for some reason did not see the other post telling you about it. After I posted I went back and was re reading the thread and saw them.

I must be getting old. :p

I had one cup that was on so tight, it was bent on, no bottom,, I had to get a screw driver to pry it down to get it off..
So guys check your cups,, never thought of that before all of this
