1000007871.jpgcustomer replaced P&C on a Dolmar 7900. They cranked the cylinder down with the bolts and used a ratchet to crank over the engine.....half way. Had to drive out piston with a hammer and punch. Ignorance is bliss.
 
looks to me that the ring is installed upside down, not fitting the pin properly and jamming it out into the bore. Not a lot of pistons have that feature.

Yup. He installed the ring upside down. Most every chainsaw has some way to locate the rings so the don't hang a ring in a port.

Almost every two stroke has the pin unless the ports are miniscule and even then...hell, .21ci RC engines have the pin.
