Cub Cadet has really let me down with the LT mowers, my LT1050 has had issue after issue, all very hard to figure out.
I'm not an electrical systems guy, but i do know that bad batteries can cause some really strange issues occasionally in cars, and i imagine in small engines as well. It might be worth swapping out your battery to see if that contributes. Its a long shot but something to look at i guess.
you could measure the voltage on your battery while off and running, there should be around 12 VDC when it's off and 14ish when it's running. At least that'll give you a starting point to figure out if you charging system is working or not?
