Cub Cadet XT! deck issue

Hello, I have a Cub Cadet XT1 50 in tractor. I believe this is my 3rd year mowing with it, I bought it brand new and have had no issues with it until today. While mowing, I ran over some pieces of bark and the deck belt came off. When I was trying to put the belt back on, I was using a 3/8 ratchet to pull the tensioner back over and found the belt to be way too tight. I had to disconnect the deck from the mower and loosen an idler pulley to get it back on. After re assembly, I tried to mow, and now when I engage the PTO, it almost kills the mower and the belt starts smoking. I stress, I haven't had any issues with this mower at all. Any ideas?

I suspect that the belt is either not reinstalled correctly or you missed a belt guide when you put the belt back on. need to consult the owners manual for deck belt routing, and inspect all the pulleys to make sure you are not on the wrong side of a belt guide.

And check that the blades & pulleys turn freely.
Their may be somthing jambing them
Usually a way too tight belt is because the belt is on the wrong side of a belt keeper.
