then you have the correct ignition switch for the MTD RMC module.

Then about the only thing left is the seat switch or the shorting strip in the seat switch connector.

Additionally, since the mower will cut moving forward and the fact that the red light won't come on when putting into "reverse mode", I'd check the continuity of the wire (with a volt meter) from the reverse switch of the RMC module and the seat switch (red/black wire). There may be a break in that wire or loose connection.

If you were to unplug the reverse switch at the trans, would it allow it to mow in reverse? I have done this on non-RMC mowers.
