I stored my Cub Cadet LTX 1045 over the winter and moved it into the garage last fall manually ( meaning I pulled out the hydrostatic bypass rod so I could free wheel the rider ).

I just went to start it up to move it today and engaged the hydro bypass rod and the tractor would not move.........I pulled the bypass rod in and out a few times and the wheels remain locked when the bypass rod is in the engaged or disengaged position.

When I step on the hydro pedal to go forward there is a squealing sound like the belts are trying to move but it just isn't happening.

Not sure what might be wrong.

Thoughts ?

Jack up the rear end and see if your wheels turn when off the ground.
If they do then take the hub caps off put it in gear and see what happens.
If the axel turns but the wheel does not then the drive keys are broken.
If the wheels go slightly foreword or back then the brake is locked on.
The brake works on the lay shaft not the main shaft snf it is not uncommon for it to rust in the on position particularly if the mower has been laid up for winter with the brake engaged.

The disc brake on the side of the tranny is stuck in the on position. It it normally located on the right side of the tranny in front of the axle, will have a flat piece of metal connected to it with a twist next to the bolt that attaches it to the tranny. May have either a rod or spring connected to the other end. Move it back and forth to see if it will release. most times it will click when touched the correct direction. May also need to put some lube on the pivot point to keep it from resticking. Don't get it on the brake disk or the brake pads.
