Last fall when I put the lawn tractor to sleep I did so knowing there was a starting problem. Now that it is spring I need to address it and fix it. The issue is that I have to keep turning the key several times before it will start. When I turn the key it makes a sound like a dead battery would, by that I mean a clicking sound. I bypassed everything with a jumper wire going directly from the battery to the starter and the starter turns over just fine but will not start even with the switch turned on and me sitting on the seat. I'm not sure what this is telling me other than the starter and battery work. Any suggestions on what to test would be appreciated. In the beginning of the year I had the wiring harness replaced under warranty because it wasn't charging.

Go here and download the wiring schematic and check all the safety switchers and then any relays and also the solenoid, and any bad connections (earth).

It tells you that the wiring needs some work.
Clean off the battery terminals and terminal wires .
Clean up the earth connections and the main power line to the solenoid and from the solenoid to the starter.
I like to paint them with liquid electrical tape to prevent further corrosion.

From there on it it is a case of working your way through the wiring diagram, checking every connector & switch.

Thanks to both of you I'll do as suggested now that I know where to get a wiring diagram.
