My mower just started dragging while trying to crank. The battery has 12.8 volts but when I turn the key it drags for about 1/4 turn and stops. Turn the key off and back to the start position the same thing 1/4 turn stop.
remove battery & take to local auto parts store to be load tested, should be of no cost to you. if battery fails test make sure to purchase new battery with enough CCA'S, cold cranking amps., your owners manual should have battery information.
Make sure that the battery cables at both ends are clean & making good contact
If the engine stops at the same spot every time remove the rocker cover and adjust the valve lash.
