Pto light stays on. Won't turn over. You can hear it engage and unengage when pulling or pushing switch.

Park brake on or set, PTO off, have you checked battery & cables for corrosion? Check oil level on dipstick, is it on full mark? Fresh gas in tank also.

Break is on, PTO is off new charged battery, full oil an gas. Push down on break turn key, it does not turn over, break light goes out when depressed, PTO light stays on when trying to start.

There are 3 sets of contacts on the PTO switch so regardless of weather you can hear the clutch throwing or not, the pto light is signalling an engaged PTO to the rest of the wiring.
So it will be lots of WD 40 ( or your favourite similar goop ) then work the switch a lot to flush out any gunk, remove & replace the plug a few times to make sure you are getting good cantact on the switch terminals.

If no joy then 99% chance the PTO switch is US

You have to love WD-40! Thanks for the advice. Starts great.
