Last week I trash picked a 2155, the guy who owned it for what ever reason tore the entire machine apart, everything except the transaxle was in boxes, milk crates, bags, and buckets.
The hour meter reads super low, only a few hundred hours showing, if the hour meter was working.
Its got the typical paint sheeting off the thing and its missing the headlight panel.

The deck is like new, the transaxle is clean and it came with a spare. The tires are good but it came with a new set as well.
There's boxes of new parts.
I started to put the motor together the other day and everything seems to be here except the intake adapter for the carb and the heat sink that goes behind it. The rest looks to be all there.

The coil bolts were seized and the coil badly mauled but I got that off, and now I need to find the screw for the coil as well. I hace a new coil, new carb, its got a new rod, piston, rings, crank bearings, oil pump, pushrods, seals, pto clutch, and filters with a 6 pack of Mobil 1 10w-30 oil.

Once I find an intake plate and some coil screws it can go back together.
 
Keep going they were a good little mower , I had one for about 12 years , 15 hp Kohler , 42" deck
Traded it for a GT2550
 
I need to find the pieces that go under the carb, the isolation block or spacer, and the aluminum adapter or intake manifold, and the coil bolts. I took a ride out to one junk yard and they had five of these motors but all were stripped down to bare blocks.
It looks like a pretty good set up to me, an iron lined bore, common engine parts and its easy to work on.
The issues I'm having is with missing parts and a motor torn down seemingly for no good reason.

I picked up another one off CL for free but that one is missing its motor completely. I have a good K301, I'm tempted to just stick that in there and run it with the older style flat head motor. The crank height looks to be the same or close enough. I'm not sure about the pto clutch and all that but the K301 has an Allis Chalmers pto clutch already on it. I'm betting I can make the whole thing work in that one.
Both are missing their headlights though.
I think I'd weld up the headlight opening and stick some tractor lights on the sides before I'll spend what they want for that bit of plastic for the original lights.
