Clean fly-wheel and check the gap between the mageneta and flywheel. I usually put a playing card between the 2 and slide the magneta against the card then tighten down the screws and pull out the playing card and that is a fine gap and should result in a "super Spark". Well it worked for me anyways. Also reccomend a brand new spark plug.

Spray the coil with WD40 leave it for one or two hours, or take it off and lay it in the sun until dry.

It may not have anything to do with getting wet. I've had many mowers over the years sit out in thunderstorms and still start. Usually they get water in the fuel system, but not lose fire. Pull the kill wire on the magneto and see if you still get fire. Could have been something happen at the same time it rained...maybe grounding out the coil, or switch wet and grounding out etc. Wouldn't hurt to dry it off and see if it works. I wouldn't want a coil that is that sensitive as you're looking at trouble on down the road with it. I don't see how water would have gotten to the coil / magneto if the shroud was on, even in a blowing rain.

Hi Dave
Thanks for the reply . Not sure which is the kill wire have to magneto coils one feeds the other which each one goes to the spark plugs . there is a spade junction block with 3 wires to white and one redthat I believe to the magneto and down below to a piece below the fuel bowl to some item screwed into the bottom of the engine with 2 wires don't even know what that item is sorry its not in the manual diagram. I pulled the spark plug connected it back up to the spark plug wire rested the plug on the frame and did't see any spark . maybe thats not the correct way to test so I am not sure what is next.?

Did all that Still not firing . the plug was wet with fuel when i pulled it and there is fuel sitting in the throat of the carb . i left the spark plug hooked up as I took it out rested it on the frame cranked it didn't see a spark. ?
