Craftsman zts 6000 Starter issue

Seems Gordy had same issue last year... never saw the resolution
Battery Good
Replaced Solenoid
Starter will spin when jumped from battery to solenoid
Bendix does not engage
Clicks when turn the key / all safety switches are done..(not checked because some are hidden) seat / blade / control arms / park components are all set
Have ordered new starter but not a good feeling since this was described in Gordy's issue..
I don't understand why the starter spins when solenoid is jumped and the bendix does not engage..

I did not find the answer looks like it was a dead end.. In my case it was the ground wire... providing intermittent results.. wish I had checked that first.
