I have a craftsman 917.256.522 and it was working fine then I wasn't really paying attention and had to slam on the breaks cause I almost hit the pool!! Well after that the tractor didn't want to move I think the break got stuck, so I put it in netural not sure if it actually went to Netural though cause it was a tough push to the garage. The break was somehow jammed so i took it all apart and got it back to normal, now though i'm having a problem with the rear diff wheel that the belt powers it doesn't allways want to move feely I can usually get it to go into forward gears but when I go into reverse it just spins and the wheels go nowhere and sometimes in forward it wont even spin and it burns the belt up at the front driveshaft wheel, any ideas out there. I'm thinking theres a big problem with the rear diff but I could be missing something??

Try loosening the brackets for the shifter. Then put the shifter into reverse . Move the mounting bracket forward towards the front of the tractor and tighten the bolts.
See if have reverse and the forward gears .

Remember your brake peddle tensioner under the tractor decides the tension of the brake and how much belt gets given to each forward gear .
I have missed a guide before changing a snapped belt on my LT1000 and it made the brake freak out .
